RANT on TREC’s Phone Service

This is mainly for other Realtors. I just want let everyone know how terrible the phone service is for TREC. It is terrible because it is non-existent. Every time I call I get a busy signal. In this day and age, it is hard to even find a busy signal anymore. But not at TREC. You are not put on hold so that you can wait until someone is available. There is no voicemail. It is absolutely ridiculous. You basically have to take your chances and try over and over again throughout the day or, in my case, a week. Luckily, the TREC office is in Austin, so I can go down there to get something done. I don’t know what agents from other cities do. TREC, please step in the next millennium.

UPDATE 2009.08.26: I had to call TREC today and actually got put on hold and then someone picked up in less than a minute.  Now if only they made the website a bit more useful, I wouldn’t need to call them.

  1. I agree totally with Braxton Beyer, I am new to the Austin area as a realtor, but have been a broker in two other states. In both states I never had a problem reaching a real person when I had a question or need for the real estate commission. Like Braxton experienced, I have called trec again and again, day in and day out over many varied hours and have always gotten the same response…a busy signal. Finally, out of necessity, I had to drive 25 miles to the trec office to arrange for a name correction. More recently, out of frustration and with questions about trec rules concerning bulk mail, I have tried e-mailing the office at information@trec.texas.com and three days later I am still awaiting a response. I even tried e-mailing and calling the current chairwoman of trec and she has not responded to either mail or phone messages. Is anyone out there???? Are budget contraints so great that trec can’t afford to provide any kind of mail or phone communication services to it’s agents? Must we always drive to the downtown office??. It is REALLY frustrating.
